• The pump module for the diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) is retained to theDEF tank by a threaded retaining ring. When service is required for theDEF pump module, the retaining ring must be removed, then re-torqued toensure the module seals to the tank. J-38879-B is an adjustable spannerwith a square drive, and is tightened onto the outer ribs of the pumpmodule retaining ring. A breaker bar or torque wrench is used to removeor install the pump module retaining ring. Unapproved methods willdamage the DEF pump module.
