This is obviously a very well crafted and sturdy, durable tool. Where all the oil filter wrenches that I have encountered in local auto parts stores are made from either very flimsy stamped sheet metal or hard plastic, the Assenmacher is manufactured using a beefy cast aluminum body, and then well machined and finished. The packaging as I received it, was somewhat vague and inaccurate about the vehicle applications that this filter wrench serves. It stated—among other makes and models—that this wrench fits a 2006 Escape Hybrid. (I have a 2008 Escape Hybrid) That is technically correct, but it leaves the impression that that is the only year of Escape Hybrid to which it applies. In reality, it fits the oil filter adapter cover of every Escape Hybrid ever made—including the first year, 2005, and the final year 2012, and every single year in between. I know this because I did a search on several auto parts websites that sell the part that the wrench fits, namely, the oil filter adapter cover, and the part is the same for all years of Escape Hybrids, therefore by extension, the wrench must fit every model year as well. This vehicle requires a 74 mm wrench with 14 lobes or facets, and is near impossible to obtain from local auto parts stores, where most of the wrenches are 15 lobe models that are designed for the conventional metal canister type oil filters. This vehicle’s oil filter is a pleated paper cylinder, that fits into a permanent metal housing bolted to the engine block. The tool worked well for removing and installing the filter cover, my only complaint—a minor one—being that Assenmacher could have machined the tool to a slightly tighter tolerance, as there was a bit of play in the fit of the wrench over the filter cover; that is I could rotate it a few degrees in either direction before it locked on and began to loosen or tighten the cover. That is a relatively minor issue, and in conclusion I would say buy this tool, it will last you forever.

Quality construction and worked fine. Its nice being able to change my own oil and this tool makes it easier.
